Now I am a child of the 80s. Which means I saw most of the major cartoons of the time. Transformers, GI Joe, He-Man, and Voltron, just to name my particular favorites. I also saw a little of Robotech (I just recently finished the original Macross series, renting the DVDs from Netflix, a few months back) and Thundercats.
I only saw a few episodes of the original Thundercats series and I can barely remember those eps. The show just didn't click with me the way the others did. A few years ago someone actually posted the entire series on youtube, but I never did get around to watching those. They've since been taken down But they now have the DVDs available on Netflix
I really didn't know about the new series until acouple days before the series premiere (Hey, ever since The Clone Wars season finale and Young Justice went on hiatus there has really been no reason to watch Cartoon Network). So I made a point to check it out (I have seen all the current episodes).
And I love it. I've read a lot of reviews, most seem to favor the new show as an improvement from the original, and from my own memories I'd have to agree. The characters are better written, and the stories are good. Then there are the reviews that just blast it, saying it's a disgrace to the original. Now, I have fond memories of all my old favorite shows, like Transformer and He-Man, but the 80s didn't exactly set the standard for storytelling, and voice-acting back then was more like voice-speaking They're just not as sacred as some people make them out to be.
One thing I do remember about the old Thundercats series was how fine Cheetara was But it still wasn't enough to get me to watch the show more than I did.
The new Thundercats is currently my favorite animated show right now. Young Justice would probably still be my favorite if it wasn't on hiatus for so damn long I really love the design of all the characters. They look updated at the same time paying homage to the original. And the anime-esque style just works. Very similar to Young Justice and far removed from the crappiness of The Batman.
I think I'm starting to have a crush on this new Cheetara
She looks great. And maybe it's because she's a cat person that they can get away with giving her that cleavage. That . . . glorious cleavage . . . .
Huh?
Sorry, I'm back
The only thing I don't like are those huge discs on her wrists and ankles, otherwise, her outfit is just fine. I was actually going to draw her in that outfit when I got the idea of putting the new Cheetara into the original leotard. I'm old school, I love leotards. Wonder Woman, Teela, 90 percent of the cast of She-Ra (unfortunately, this included a lot of the men ) all wore leotards. I still want to do a pic of this Cheetara in her new outfit, but I just had to do this one first Though I did lose the tights of the original outfit. I really wanted to show off her legs. Since she has spots on her shoulders I figured she should have spots on her hips
I drew her more my own style but I also wanted her to look like she does in the show, so I tried to draw her eyes exactly as they are on the show. As well as her hair, but I had to do my own thing, because of my thing with women's hair
I love you o.o
