I've been trying to keep myself from watching DA 2 videos on youtube. I knew I wasn't going to have the money to buy it (probably won't for awhile :crying: ) but the day before it occurred to me that I had enough to rent it ;p Luckily they still had a copy behind the counter at Blockbuster. It should tide me over for awhile at least.

I had heard that based on your character's appearance the Hawke family (your mother, brother, and sister) will also change to match your character. It's been a lot fun trying it out. The top three pics are the twin siblings and my definitive female warrior Hawke (I may actually create a male Hawke because it seems they found a good voice-over actor for him  ). [Mordin voice] Surprising of Bioware. (sniff) Welcomed. But unexpected. ;p

Bethany and Carver look cool, and they do go well with my Hawke, but I just didn't like the flat bangs they gave Bethany. I used preset face 4 (not counting the two default faces) and the third skin tone from the end. I have heard that Hawke's hair style may also effect your family's appearance but I haven't seen any effect of it.

So I recreated my Hawke again, used the same preset face but I used the fourth skin tone from the end, just a shade lighter, and now the siblings skin look almost white :omg: with a hint of asian to their eyes (or latin maybe?). But that actually works with my Mage character from Dragon Age: Origins, since Mother Hawke's family is related to the Amell mage. My Hawke is nearly identicle to my Origins mage (though I couldn't help but give her white hair, like my Lady Cousland character :D )

I already love DA 2 more than Origins, having a character that actually talks and interacts with the other characters is light years ahead of the previous game, even though there's only about a year separating the two. It's more easy to immerse yourself in the story. They also streamlined the combat system, allowing you to control each basic attack, even though you're just smashing the same button waiting for your special feats to recharge, it makes you feel like you're actually doing something instead of just watching the same combat animation recycle over and over again until someone dies.

So even though I just started, I'm loving the game :D

You never know. Mother Hawke might have had white hair before it turned gray ;p

The one on the top left has the exact same face and hair as Pettrucio from Assassin's Creed II...it's uncanny!

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the character (even though my nephew actually has the game ;p ) but I'll take your word for it ;)

Glad you're enjoying the game. I haven't really as much. From my rental period, I could tell that I liked Origins better. I disagree with you on the streamlining and the dialogue wheel for the Dragon Age series. I think its perfect for the type of game Mass Effect is, but I love the classic feel that Origins brought more for this series.

I'm playing default male hawke right now, so I haven't experienced all the different look possibilities for the Hawke family. It would have been cool if you could actually choose the hairstyles for Bethany and Carver at the beginning, but the fact that their appearance is modified at all based on the player Hawke is cool enough.

That said, glad I wasn't the only one who rented it. Btw, just out of curiosity, was the Black Emporium code still in your rented copy? I rented it on the 8th at Blockbuster when the game came out, and they forgot to take the card out, so I got the Black Emporium for free :p

Unfortunately, my rental copy didn't even come with the instruction booklet ;p

I would have loved if they would have at least let us choose our family's hair styles. I already know I'm going to playthrough the game at least two more times so I'll be exploring more of the family's appearances.

Yikes. I guess I REALLY lucked out then, huh? :p

I agree with you, but at least Bioware got THIS far with character creation influence, right? I give them credit for that.
