It was a total coincidence that one of my Mara linearts was requested and that my next WIP ready to post is also a Mara pic
The one thing I wasn't happy about with my first "Emperor's Hand" Mara pic was that I didn't make her look young enough. I based that Mara on her in the novel "Allegiance" so she was supposed be only eightteen years old or younger. And ever since I saw the Japanese cover of "Allegiance" (check out this beautiful wallpaper made of the cover [link] ) I just had to try again.
I think I succeeded this time At least made her look younger than she does in the other pic.
And the lightsaber I gave her in the first pic was based on the silhouette of her lightsaber on the American cover, but I found images of a lightsaber replica someone did for Mara's lightsaber and it looks way cooler than the one I drew so I'm gonna go with that one from now on
And this pic is far from done, I still need to draw the Hand of Judgement stormtroopers behind her
**** edit
Since I got done cleaning the linart it was fairly easy to fill in the base colors for this pic. But now Mara is looking a lot like Scarlett in the GI Joe movie . . . with a lightsaber
Might I ask how you did your lightsaber effect? I've been using photoshop for mine, but if you have a different and better way I'd like to gear about it!
I actually have Paint Shop Pro which is a much cheaper version of Photoshop, but only because it doesn't come with a lot of the fancier tools. But really all the tools I use to create lightsabers are pretty much the same in Photoshop. I put up a two-page tutorial of how I create lightsabers. You can find the first page here [link]
I'm glad you like the picture. Her lightsaber is actually magenta. It's the lightsaber she had while she was the Emperor's Hand. I'm pretty much convinced that the purple lightsaber you sometimes see her with was a mistake someone made when they saw the original Mara Jade comic book and thought her magenta lightsaber was purple.
Mara! This is wonderful: the Emperor's Hand, in all her dangerous glory! Love the costuming, and the pose (but then, you SO excel at stuff like that! )--and you've definitely captured a "younger-looking" Mara here, so well-done with that! A great adaption of that cover image, but done with your classic panache! Wonderful!
I wonder how Luke would've felt if he saw Mara in this combat suit?
I've never seen one like that, even in fanart. But I think it was a good idea.
Nice piece.
